Sejal comes from a Gujarati settler family, grew up in Surrey, BC, and now lives in Nanaimo, on the territories of the Snuneymuxw First Nation. She completed her BA (Bachelor of Arts) degree in Geography (Environment & Sustainability stream), with a focus on natural resource management and Indigenous sovereignty.
