Líl̓wat Nation Land Allotment Policy (2020)

With a growing population and a limited land base, the Líl̓wat Nation required a process to allocate reserve land to their citizens who did not otherwise have access to traditional land holdings. Land Forest People was fortunate to work with the Líl̓wat Nation to develop a land allotment policy that met their goal of providing a fair, consistent and transparent process to citizens seeking land while protecting services and resources that benefit the community as a whole. We worked closely with the project team and steering committee, as well as in close consultation with the community, to ensure the policy fit within the context of the community's history and insight with regard to land allocation.
